OUR MISSION

AAIFF Africa is dedicated to the discovery, projection and promotion of the very best independent films from around the African continent.

African independent filmmaking is experiencing a renaissance, showcasing the continent’s rich diversity and cultural narratives. Filmmakers from various African nations are breaking away from conventional stereotypes and Eurocentric influences to craft authentic, thought-provoking stories. These independent productions often tackle pressing issues like social justice, political upheaval, and personal struggles, shedding light on the complex realities of African life. Furthermore, advancements in technology and increased access to funding have empowered these filmmakers to create high-quality, globally relevant cinema.

You can see it in movies and fashion.

Astonishing change is underway in Africa, where the population is projected to nearly double to 2.5 billion over the next quarter century an era that will not only transform many African countries, and will also radically reshape their relationship with the rest of the World. Africa’s baby boom continues, fueling the youngest, fastest growing population on earth.
The median age on the African continent is 19. In India, the world’s most populous country, it is 28. In China and the United States, it is 38.
